The students of B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) and LL.B. of B.B.S. Institute of Law, Phaphamau, Prayagraj organized a Legal Aid and Legal Literacy Programme on 4 November 2025 at Village Madari, Post Siswan, Block Mau Aima, District Prayagraj.
As a major component of the programme, students performed a street play (nukkad natak) on the theme of Dowry Prohibition to create awareness among villagers about the harmful effects of the dowry system. Smt. Leelawati, Gram Pradhan, attended as the Chief Guest and appreciated the initiative, acknowledging its importance in empowering rural communities and promoting justice and equality.
Dr. B.P. Singh, Director of B.B.S. Institute of Law, praised the efforts of the students and highlighted that such activities help develop legal understanding, social sensitivity, and responsibility among future legal professionals. He mentioned that the street play delivered a powerful message against dowry practices.
The event was effectively executed under the leadership of Mr. Manas Tripathi (Head of Department, Law). The street play was conceptualized and guided by Ms. Aditi Anand (Faculty, Law) and Mr. Yogendra Pratap Singh (Faculty, Law). Through their performance, students depicted the consequences of dowry and encouraged villagers to reject this social evil.
The programme received encouraging participation from villagers, who appreciated the students and the institution for their efforts. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks. Overall, the Legal Aid Programme was a meaningful and impactful initiative that strengthened legal awareness and contributed to positive social change in the community.
